It’s rare I vilify a “non-financial” person, but this one has been building inside me for some time now. Thankfully, I have an outlet to do so; and I highly doubt anyone will disagree with the subject of my discourse – the depraved NFL quarterback, Michael Vick.
This may seem to simply involve RANTING about a BAD MAN; and the BAD MEN that enable him. However, it’s more so a commentary on the ongoing decline of American culture; rapidly morphing into degeneracy.
Let’s start in 2001, when Vick – a unique, “five-tool player” – to borrow a baseball term – was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons to be their quarterback of the next decade…
Michael Vick drafted #1 overall – April 2001
…a relationship they solidified three years later, with a $130 million contract…
Vick signs record $130 million deal – December 2004
Amidst the FAME and FORTUNE of being a star athlete – and the necessity of being a ROLE MODEL – he slunk into perhaps the mist vile, disgusting, evil hobby on Earth – Dogfighting.
Michael Vick Dogfighting Scandal – July 2007
Dogfighting is akin to the worst imaginable crimes; including child molestation, rape, and murder. Domesticated dogs are the world’s most loyal, gentle, and helpless animals, yet the dogfighting “bloodsport” is operated for ENTERTAINMENT; as psychotic sociopaths cheer as starving, brutalized animals tear each other apart.
Sometimes punishments fit the crime; but to a man, I believe 23 months for what this monster participated in – ACTIVELY – is too little. Perhaps, he should have been caged with a hungry dog – or HUMAN – while others cheered, and bet on his life…
Michael Vick Sentenced to 23 Months in Jail for Role in Dogfighting – December 2007
Shortly after being released from prison, Vick announced bankruptcy…
Judge OKs Vick’s bankruptcy plan – August 2009
…but fortunately for him, the Philadelphia Eagles could not care less about his past. NO ONE else wanted him, but the Super Bowl-starved Eagles management would probably have signed Hitler if he were a good quarterback…
Vick, Eagles agree to 2-year deal – August 2009
And what a shock (NOT!), Vick hadn’t forgotten how to play football. Thus, he quickly returned to form, named the Comeback Player of the Year two years later…
Vick wins 2011 Comeback Player of the Year – January 2011
…prompting another corporate prostitute – Nike – to decide it was acceptable to pay millions to one of the world’s most detestable people…

…in the name of selling sneakers manufactured in sweatshops, targeting demographic groups spending beyond their means…

Michael Vick still hasn’t come close to winning the Super Bowl, despite being favored to do so each year. However, last year the Eagles extended his contract for another $100 million…

…despite him being among the nation’s “Most Disliked Athletes”…
Michael Vick among US’s most disliked athletes – February 2012
And how’s Mr. $100 million doing? For starters, he’s leading the league in fumbles…

…while on the verge of again declaring bankruptcy…
Michael Vick Blew $29 Million After Bankruptcy – October 2012
…and last but not least – in a giant SLAP IN THE FACE to dog-owners throughout the WORLD, he somehow has been allowed to buy a new dog!
Michael Vick: Dog owner again – October 2012
The bible states “do unto others as you would have them do to you.” This is my life’s philosophy, which is why I strive to associate with “good, smart people” that enrich others’ experience. In my view, Michael Vick is the polar opposite of what one should strive for in life; something I’ve wanted to WRITE for a very long time.

Thanks for writing that Andy,
My wife and I feel at least if not a whole lot more hatred towards this @#$% and the people who have supported his career. It truly boggles the mind. We watched the game on Sunday for the sole purpose of possibly seeing this p.o.s. hurt, hurt real bad. My wife just recently sold her kennel which she started 11 years ago in Minnetonka, Mn., about 3 miles south of your bosses house in Wayzata. We are dog lovers and have 4 of our own so we get it.
With so many animal lovers in this country, what I can’ t understand is why,,,. Why isn’t this sub-human booed off the field at every damn game. You are right with ” What’s Wrong with America. That truly is very sad.
Appreciate your rants Andy and have learned a lot from Miles Franklin over the past 2 yrs. The only reason I don’t buy bullion through you is the sales tax (living in minn,) I buy through a local shop in Excelsior on Lake Minnetonka. Keep up the good fight.
Sincerely Jeff & Ruth.
Jeff,

Jeff,
I’m sure MILLIONS agree with us; but in today’s America, it’s all about MONEY – even over LIFE. And better yet, this LOSER Michael Vick is the biggest choker in the game.
As for your comment about sales tax, there is NONE for Minnesota residences, as Miles Franklin’s payment processing and shipping department is in Fargo, ND.
Andy
You are entitlted to your opinion, as am I,and I must disagree with yours. I do not follow any pro or college sports so whether Vick does well or not is irrelavent to me.While I do not advocate cruelty to animals I also don’t think it should be a criminal offense to do so. Animals are property, they have no rights. People have rights therefore they may be advocates for animals.
As I stated earlier I do not advocate animal cruelty and don’t think people should participate in dog fighting, but if that is what you want to do with your property who am I to say no.
Yes we are all entitled to an opinion and I believe one word pretty much sums up the condition in this country……Apathy.
