The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. – Senator Barack H. Obama…March 2006

I had a long conversation with “Ranting” Andy Hoffman this afternoon. He and I share the same concerns. Andy will continue to be a regular contributor to the Miles Franklin Daily. I am planning a trip to Denver in October and will spend time with Andy. In today’s daily he discusses what lies in store for Americans, and offers sound advice on what you can do to protect you and your family. Andy has NO financial motivation in writing about the economy and precious metals. He is an analyst, and he works with gold and silver mining companies. He does not deal with the public. As far as I am concerned, his analysis of the precious metals market is spot on!

He and I share the same goal – to enlighten as many people as possible to what is happening, to open their eyes before it is too late and to offer worthwhile advice on what precautions to take. Andy is heavily invested in PHYSICAL gold and silver, as am I. We understand the danger in holding our wealth in dollars. Whenever you see the name Ranting Andy Hoffman in the table of contents, make it a point to read what he has to say. He writes with passion and wisdom uncommon for his age.

Also featured today is a fun article by our friend Jeff Clark (Big Gold) at Casey Research. It is a “visual delight.” It features 23 pictures of currencies that have failed in your lifetime. They are fun to look at, but you should check them out on your computer before you print out the daily. They will soak up a lot of your printer’s ink. I am placing Jeff’s article at the very end of the daily for those of you who like to print out the daily. If you wish, you can print out the daily but stop before his article.
