One of the most frequent questions I get asked in my inbox on an almost daily basis is something along the line of WHERE SHOULD I START?
Here’s an exact question from this week:
“Hunter, I never bought gold or silver in my life, not even a stock. I am brand new to putting my money in and investing. I don’t want to lose money and I feel overwhelmed. How can I get to be knowledgeable about precious metals in the quickest way possible?”
Well, I cannot say I know the exact answer to this question. In my experience, learning something new has always cost me money in one way or another. If you wanna dance, you gotta pay the band. But there is a way to learn about precious metals investing quickly and with less risk of losing money than if you just blindly bumbled along and did everything yourself through trial and error.
Are you ready for the answer?
MIRROR the experts!
Mirroring is the behavior in which one person imitates the gesture, speech pattern, or attitude of another to increase persuasion or build rapport.
Use the above definition when you get to actually meet the experts as I show you how below but when I say mirror the experts I also mean find someone who is really successful at what you want to learn and do what they do. Read their books. Subscribe to their newsletters. Hang out with them. Add them to your circle of friends.
Let’s dig in to how you can do this now, especially the part about hanging out with and possibly adding a gold and silver expert to your circle of friends.
First of all, you have to sift out the nut jobs and mine the actual experts. I’ll help you out with this but as always, you should do your own research. Here are some of my favorite experts to follow.
Bill Bonner. Doug Casey. Andy Schectman (Miles Franklin CEO). Jim Rickards. Peter Schiff. Hunter Riley III. Gary Christenson. Rick Rule. Maurice Jackson. David Schectman (Founder of Miles Franklin). Eric Sprott. Bill Murphy. Chris Marcus. Mike Maloney. Jeff Clark. David Morgan.
I’m sure I’m forgetting some experts but that list is good enough for this article. If these guys have a Twitter account, get your own Twitter account and start following them. It’s like a portal into their mind and their up to the minute thinking.
So which one of those dude’s above has a good book for you to read?
Jimmy Rickards has an excellent book called “The New Case For Gold.”
World famous Hunter Riley III wrote a brilliant book called “Stack SIlver Get Gold: How To Buy Gold And Silver Bullion Without Getting Ripped Off!”
Next, you want to subscribe to a handful of precious metal related newsletters.
The Miles Franklin newsletter is one of the best because they expose you to so many different precious metals experts, voices and opinions a few times per week. Just read their newsletter for a month or so and your precious metals knowledge will grow exponentially.
Another of my newsletter favorites is from Casey Research. This is Doug Casey’s (also known as The International Man) deal. Lots of good insight into precious metals, the resource sector and international events.
Now it’s time for you to hang out and make friends with the gold and silver experts.
I know you might be thinking “But Hunter, how in the hell am I supposed to hang out with 5 billion dollar gold dealers like Andy Schectman, the International Man Doug Casey or the ruler of the resource sector Rick Rule?”
GO TO PRECIOUS METALS CONFERENCES!
Keep an eye on your favorite experts social media accounts or email lists and go to the conferences where they are scheduled to speak.
Believe it or not, at these conferences you’ll find some of the biggest precious metals experts just walking around with their name tags on chatting with all the regular attendees like you and me.
It’s not like you’re going to a Justin Bieber concert with security and screaming coeds (unfortunately on this specific coed count).
The precious metals niche is relatively small and the amount of attendees at these conferences is usually only in the hundreds. In addition, you’ll meet like minded people and not so famous but still very powerful insiders.
To find these precious metals conferences, check out the Miles Franklin upcoming events page and follow your favorite experts on social media or get on their email lists. Unfortunately, Andy Schectman and most of the Miles Franklin team has been slammed lately and aren’t scheduled to speak but there are two cool conferences coming up soon. If you are near by make sure to check them out.
The Silver And Gold Summit
Put on by Cambridge House, which also runs the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference in January, the Summit has some big name speakers including Rick Rule, Doug Casey, Martin Katusa, Jeff Clark and David Morgan. So if you are interested in metals and mining investments, this conference hits the mark. The Silver and Gold Summit runs October 28 and 29 in San Francisco, CA. Cambridge House was nice enough to give our readers a 30% OFF discount code. Get your tickets here using the secret code “STACK”The New Orleans Investment Conference
The NOIC runs from November 1-4 in New Orleans and I’m pretty sure a lot of the Miles Franklin writers like Chris Marcus and Maurice Jackson will be there. In addition, you have Peter Schiff, Robert Kiyosaki, Mickey Fulp, Doug Casey, James Grant and many more showing up. I like the NOIC because in addition to metals and mining, it also focuses on geopolitics and has some neat speakers (like Jonah Goldberg) in that area as well. Use the secret code “FREEGOLDCLUB” to get a good discount on tickets. If you feel like heading to New Orleans for the conference, you can sign up here.
I might be able to make one of these.
Will be a last minute thing.
