The debate as to whether Public or Private sector employees are paid more continues; however, most evidence points to the former. The primary source of contention is the fact that the public and private sector work forces are considerably different; for example, the large amount of teachers and postal workers in the public work force, nearly entirely absent in the private sector…
Comparing pay of public vs. private employees: Pick your study
…but the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) itself published this chart in January, depicting higher public salaries for ALL educational levels other than the top tier – i.e., PhD and/or Professional degrees….
Obviously, one cannot “broad brush” either group’s output or productivity; as in both sectors, the range of occupations and employees skills is broad-based and varied. However it intuitively makes little sense for a sector that produces ZERO profits to earn MORE than one generating ALL the nation’s profits and tax revenue.
Actually, the table below claims government spending accounts for 39% of GDP…
Government Spending as a Percentage of GDP – Wikipedia
…however, I’d bet nearly all of such “GDP” is produced by private sector workers – such as when the U.S. Military orders weapons from contractors like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman…
The 25 Biggest Defense Companies In America
Again, the point of this RANT has nothing to do with worker capabilities; but instead, the spreading cancer of socialism – in some cases, bordering on communism. The CONCEPT of communal sharing and public funds is not the issue; but the commandeering of the business sector and monopolization of capital redistribution that KILLS a nation’s entrepreneurial spirit – and with it, its economy…
Americans Aged 18-29 Have A More Favorable Response To Socialism Than To Capitalism
Of course, such issues ALWAYS funnel back to the same source; the commencement of the GLOBAL PONZI SCHEME – enabling the mushrooming of government welfare programs – that commenced August 15th, 1971…

As a small business owner (since 1975) I can tell you without a doubt that Government workers are better paid – and privy to far better benefits – than workers in the private sector are. Those of us in business for ourselves have to turn a profit, and out of that profit we have to pay our deserving employee’s wages. This is tough to do in fair measure when all the Political Class has to do to find the money to pay their employees is to take our money, and to do this all that is required is a majority vote. Not much in the way of industry is required for that. A further vote can increase benefits, paid days off, amount of sick days offered, and early retirement. Barack Obama refers to them as “our deserving hard working Federal Employees.” Are not my employees hard working and deserving too? Are they second class citizens? Lee Iacocca’s Clueless Bozos, to save money paid to Federal Employees, simply retire them early (in their fifties), the “thinking” seems to be that paying them 60% of their wages not to work is a saving over having to pay them 100% of their wages to work. Of course they then have to hire new employees to replace them… How many employers in the private sector can afford to pay their people to take 2 1/2 months off a year? That’s right, incuding paid vacation, sick leave, and paid Federal Holidays (Columbus Day, President’s Day, MLK Day, etc) we pay our Federal Workers to stay home almost 1 out of every 4 days in the year. The fact is that the private sector has to work harder to support the leisure time of the public sector. This leisure time is financed with profits. Actually, correctly stated the funds are usurped through discriminatory Federal Taxes. It seems silly to me for Government Employees to even pay taxes, why not just pay them less and call their wages tax free. The fact is they are paid with tax dollars that have already been collected from the private sector and paid to them as wages.
The Sixteenth Amendment legalized Communism. The Political Class can legally pass a law to tax us 100% of our earnings. Thankfully total economic collapse will preceed that outcome – and it will. The great American Experiment will prove that Democracy does not work. But it could have. If only the Supreme Court had done its duty and declared a gradutated income tax what it is: An UNCONSTITUTIONAL DISCRIMINATION against a minority group, i.e., the industrious. Perhaps they will see the light and do so, there may still be time… At this point I fear such a ruling is the Nation’s only hope of salvation. We won’t hold our breath and wait for such a ruling, but we can pray for it.
If there is a branch of the Government the Founding Fathers instituted that failed them most grevously it has been the Supreme Court.
Don,
Just one more example of how this nation has DESTROYED itself with fiat currency.
